Lancome Hypnose

Hola Dalimoo's,

I have had my eye on Lancome Hypnose mascara for a very long time but just could never warrant spending that amount of money on a mascara, that was until I started using Benefit's They're Real mascara and have fallen in love with it.  It made me think that may be high end mascara's are a good buy so thought I would give this one ago.

My sales assistance was lovely and as you can see she gave me quite a few goodies too which I am looking forward to trying.

How lovely was my sales' assistant...all these goodies to try out
What can I say about this mascara?  Well, the reviews you read and hear about are all true!  It is beautiful mascara and it makes your eyes look amazing.  It is so buildable and gives you amazing volume.  It is not drying at all nor does it clump or make your lashes go crispy.  As you can see from the photo and I hope you agree, they look so pretty!
Look at those lashes...

Not your plastic bristles...
I haven't really got a negative about this mascara.  If you follow me on twitter you would have seen me mentioning I thought I was having a reaction to the mascara but seeing my consultant today regarding the tablets I am on he said the soreness of the eyes were due to the side effects of the tablets...phew!

My final thoughts are even though this mascara is pretty expensive and isn't something I would normally treat myself too, it is definitely worth the price and this is definitely a mascara I will be repurchasing!

Anyway, ciao for now my lovelies...

The Fun Beauty Tag

Hola Dalimoo's

I do have a few posts in the pipeline for my blog over the coming few weeks but this week has been pretty hectic in my homelife that I have not been able to sit down and really do a proper post so thought I would cheat somewhat and do a quick tag post.  I personally love tag posts (on blogs or You Tube) and hope you all don't mind me being "lazy"!  The one I came across on Google was the "Fun Beauty Tag".  Enjoy...

1. You've got five minutes to do your makeup for a date, what's your minimum?

aahh this sends me in to a frenzy just think about a time limit!  I cannot do my make up in five minutes for the life of me.  I am so cak-handed that I have to take my time otherwise I start resembling Aunt Sally...OK long arsed answer but if I had to use the minimum it would be concealer, bronzer, cream eyeshadow, blusher, mascara, lipstick.

2.  Pick a trend:  Crazy Cat Eyeliner, Super Hot Pink Blush or feathered false lashes?

Ok this is easy!  I have hooded eye so have never been able to rock a cat eye, I have long(ish) lashes anyway so don't need to wear fake lashes so it would have to be the super hot pink blush (as the saying goes a little always goes a long way)!

3. If you had to either give up all your make up for two months or give up your skin care for two months which would you pick?

Ok this is really hard!  I don't wear an awful lot of make up on a day to day basis but I couldn't live without mascara or under eye concealer as I look ill/tired without them and having an issue with my skin, I do look after my skin so I just couldn't choose which one....sorry (!)

4.  What beauty products are always in your bag?

I don't carry a lot of make up/beauty products in my bag as i don't tend to touch up that much through out the day but the stuff I do carry are: hand cream, a face powder and blusher and a lot of few lip balms/lip sticks!  I can never stick to one colour when it comes to lipstick so always throw the one I am wearing that day into my bag, and never tend to take the ones from before out.  Lip balms are my new obsession at the moment but that is because the tablets I am on are causing serious drying/cracking of my lips at the moment!

5.  Are there any beauty products that you keep coming back to throughout the years?

Does St Tropez count as a beauty product?  That is the only thing that I will always come back to time after time.  I love most fake tan products but St Tropez is the one thing I do go back to.

6. Smokey eyes or red lips?

Smokey eye.   I LOVE a smokey eye!  It's my signature eye for a night out.

7.  Lipstick or lip gloss?

Lipstick.  Not a love of gloss!

8. Are there any products that you never expected to like but ended up loving?

Foundation!  Being a girl with very oily and acne prone skin I didn't like the idea of the makeup sliding down my face or oxidising and making my acne worse, but upon doing so much research and reading blogs/watching videos I realised how wrong I was!  I still don't use it all the time but what a difference it makes to my look when I am on a night out!

So this is my post.  I hope you all enjoyed it.

I tag you all!  Please let me know if you have done this tag and let me have your link so I can read your answers.

If there is any other tags around that you think I would enjoy let me know.

NOTW...

Hola Dalimoo's,

Nail polish is my (not so) secret love, I have more nail varnish than make up in my collection.

I thought I would do a post on my nails of the last few days instead of doing separate posts of all the nail changes I have done.

Nail one of the week was China Glaze Sun Worshipper.  This is an extremely bright orangey-yellow.  The downside of this polish is its pretty watery so i needed to put on around 3 to 4 coats to make it opaque and it chipped the very next day.

Nail two was Barry M's Neon Green.  I thought I would stick with the bright/fluorescent theme of the day before!  This was opaque in just two coats and if you are like me and love neon colours this is true to colour!  This did last a couple of days before it started to chip.

Nail three and the final nail in this post is my newest polish in my collection Revlon Moon Candy in 280 Orbit, its a deep purple colour with purple irridescent glitter, on the nails the glitter looks more bluey.  I absolutely love the application of this nail polish.  I only needed one coat of the main colour and a couple of coats for the glittery flecks.  I put this on last night so I am unsure at the moment of the staying power.  I am hoping it lasts for at   least a couple of days before I need to change the polish again.

So these are the polishes I have used in the last four days.

Superdrug Haul

Hola Dalimoo's

I am on a self-imposed spending ban but as you can tell from the title it's not going to well!  I have been eyeing up these Revlon nail art Moon Candy nail varnishes for what feels like an eternity but in reality its probably been just a month!  Anyway, I was just perusing the Superdrug website the other night and don't ask me how it happened or what happened but I had bought 7 Mooncandy nail varnishes, a Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Thickener and the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.

I love all 7 of the nail art polishes and I cannot choose a favourite.  I am a sucker for a bit of glitter!

oh so pretty....
The varnishes left to right are:

200: Moon Dust: this is a black polish with iridescent glitter.
210: Galactic: this is a deep blue polish with an iridescent ice blue glitter.
220: Milky Way: this is a grey polish with sliver glitter.
230: Satellite: this is a blood red/wine polish with an iridescent orange/red glitter.
240: Eclipse: this is like an aubergine colour with and iridescent pink glitter.
260: Meteor: to me this reminds me of a moss green colour when a iridescent lime green glitter.
280: Orbit: this is a purple colour with a iridescent purple glitter.

I am not sure how to show you swatches as I don't own a nail wheel but they are lovely colours and can't wait to try them on my nails.

Look out for another haul in a few days...I had a real splurge....oooppps!

Until then...

My current skincare...

Hola Dalimoo's,

I have been on Roaccutane now for just over a month and I am really pleased with how it is going and my skin has become noticeably clearer.  I am having some of the side effects, extremely dry lips and itchy scalp but the main side effect is my face has started drying out.  Because of this, the skincare products I was using for oily/combination skin is now obsolete!

I have found products that seem to be working for me at the moment but having just increased my dosage I will no doubt need to research some more products for extreme dry skin, but for the now these are doing their job!

From left to Right:

I know there is a buzz at the moment about how bad face wash is for your skin...blah blah blah but I am someone who doesn't feel clean if I haven't washed with a face wash.  Saying that I have been on the hunt for something more "natural" and recently came across Salcura (£10.99 -FeelUnique.com), it is free from parabans, SLS and claims to be 100% pure and natural.  I have noticed  Salcura  doesn't foam like other face washes, I think that is a good thing as my face doesn't feel overly dry after using it.  I really like this face wash and I think I will repurchase when it finishes.

One of the many side effects of Roaccutane is sensitivity to the sun which is an absolute bummer as we are having a heatwave at the moment so I am having to cover up and for the first time ever I am having to use a high sun factor.   On one of my many trips to boots for "necessities" I picked up No7 Factor 50+ face cream (£12.00) as they were having a buy one get one free on No7 skincare.  I use my SPF once I have get out of the shower and before I put on my serum and face cream.

I don't know if I put my creams on in the correct order but my way of thinking is SPF protects my skin the most so should be the first thing I put on just so my serum or my moisturiser doesn't act as a barrier....am I making sense to anyone other than myself?

Next I use serum.  I have been using serums now for a couple of years and the one I am using at the moment is from Greenpeople (£10.95 - FeelUnique.com).  I personally do not think it is as hydrating as they advertise but that could just be my skin at the moment so I do not want to be too negative about it and I am still on the hunt for a hydrating serum.

Next I use an eye cream this is also from Greenpeople  (£8.55 - FeelUnique.com).  This particular eye cream is targeted at people with sensitive eyes and sufferers of eczema and psoriasis.  I really like this cream its very thick, not watery like some eye creams I have tried recently, and it sinks in really quickly leaving my eyes feeling really hydrated.

The last step before I do my make up is my moisturiser.  The face cream of choice at the moment is Oilatum natural repair face cream (£7.95 - Boots).  I first heard about this cream watching a Pixiwoo video a couple of years back.  I did try it back then but obviously it was too greasy for my oily/combination skin at the time, but find its absolutely perfect for my dry skin now!  It leaves my skin feeling soft and glowing without the greasy look.

Like I said I am happy at the moment with the products I am using but I will no doubt switch it up a bit especially as I am now on a higher dose of Roaccutane.  The product on my wishlist at the moment is Embyolisse Lait-Creme Concentre, it is £18.50 from Cult Beauty, but I am not sure whether to actually splash out as it is pretty pricey for a face cream, but....

...who knows, I could be writing an article about it next week.

They're Real...

Hola Dalimoo

Recently I looked after a friends rabbits whilst she was on holiday and as a thank you gift she bought me Benefit's They're Real mascara. I was so happy as I have been wanting to try this mascara since it come out and I just could not warrant paying £19.50 for a mascara especially if I didn't end up liking it!

The product itself is quite wet and I don't tend to like really wet mascaras (am I the only one?) but this mascara seems to apply pretty nicely with out too much transfer to my top eyelid.  The wand itself is plastic and it has a little ball with spikes on, I don't know what the ball thingy is supposed to do but I use it to get the eyelashes at the outer edge of my eye.

although It isn't sold as a waterproof mascara it does work like one in my books as it did not streak down my face or even smudge when I cried whilst watching Les Mes today! I suppose i should take my kids swimming to really test it out..

The only downside to this mascara is it doesn't hold my curl very well but I don't mind that because I think my lashes looked amazing!  Also, taking it off is a bit of a mare, I have to use a lot of make up remover to make sure it's off properly.

Before
After

All in all this has to be one of the best mascaras I have tried to date!  The question is would I repurchase this?  Ask me again in 6 months....

Holy Grail?

Hola Dalimoos,

I was just writing up a blog post about a mascara that I have fallen in love with and I was going to put it was my new holy grail.  But is it?  I mean what is a holy grail product?  If you think about it if someone (like me) loves any thing beauty related and likes to try new things, how can this new product be my holy grail?  Surely if its holy grail then no other product will ever take its place, and  if I love the product so much  why would I feel the need try a similar product?  Lets put it into context, the only thing that I use all the time and NEVER change because I love it so much is Colgate toothpaste (ok not technically beauty related but its part of your beauty regime though).  Why am  I going to try a  new toothpaste if the one I am using I love and does exactly what I want it to do?!

Do you agree with what I am saying?  What is your take on the whole "holy grail" thing?

Anyway, it's nearly time for me to go and watch my eldest say her couple of lines in her assembly then off to work I go.....

My blog post about my new mascara love will be up later.
